How to Apply Hair Butter
1. Start on damp hair just fater a bath or dry hair
Hair butter works best on:
Damp hair (after washing) for moisture retention
Dry hair for shine and quick softening
Avoid soaking-wet hair—water can prevent the butter from absorbing well.
2. Section your hair
Divide your hair into 2–6 sections depending on thickness.
This helps you apply the butter evenly without overusing it.
3. Take a small amount between your palms
Hair butter is rich and concentrated.
Scoop out a pea- to dime-sized amount per section.
Rub it between your hands until it melts into an oil-like consistency.
4. Apply from mid-length to ends
Work the butter down the hair shaft, focusing on ends (they’re the driest).
Avoid applying too much at the roots—it can weigh hair down or look greasy.
5. Use the smoothing or raking method
Choose the method that suits your hair:
Smoothing
Glide your hands down each section to seal the cuticle.
Raking
Use your fingers to rake through curls or coils for definition.
6. Comb or brush (optional)
Use a wide-tooth comb or detangling brush to distribute the butter evenly.
7. Style as usual
Twist-outs, braid-outs, wash-and-go, protective styles, or simply air dry.
For extra shine, apply a tiny bit to finished styles.
